Clinical Investigation Centre (CIC)
Operation
The Clinical Investigation Centre of CardioMet (CIC) operates as a research platform for the biology and medical faculty (rules). It offers investigation beds and outpatient consultation boxes, a support laboratory (pre-analytical, developmental) as well as certain specialised services.
The use of the CIC or the services it offers is made on the basis of an estimate established when a study is announced (fee for service).
The CIC of the CardioMet is driven by a project group made up of the following people :

The investigation beds and consultation boxes are in the Medical University Polyclinic (PMU) building, level 07. The support laboratory is level 05 in the PMU.

Services
The Clinical Investigation Centre of CardioMet offers the following installations :
- Outpatient consultation boxes
- Equipped investigation beds
- A support laboratory
- And nursing personnel experienced in clinical investigations.
Certain services that collaborate with the Clinical Investigation Centre of CardioMet also offer specific competencies.
In the area of metabolism, the Physiology Department and the Biology and Medicine Faculty provide technical and scientific support for:
- The hyperinsulinemic clamping of volunteers and patients
- Analysis of isotopic dilution
- Metabolic measurement by indirect calorimetry
- Micro dialysis
- Biopsies (cutaneous, sub-cutaneous, muscular).
In the cardiovascular area, the Angelology service of the CHUV provides scientific and technical support to detect :
- atherosclerosis by echography
And
- intima-media thickness
- the atheromatous plates
- cutaneous flows
- central pressure
- rigidity of the external wall
- sensitivity of the baroreflex
- regulation of the cerebral flow
- the endothelial function
