CardioMet - Center for Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases
Mission
Founded in October 2005 by the CHUV Hospice, the Biology and Medicine faculties, the CardioMet Centre has as a mission to create a centre of excellence in care, research and training in the cardiovascular and metabolism areas. The objectives of the centre are:
- Ensure high quality global care of patients;
- Promote innovation;
- Encourage close cooperation between researchers and clinical technicians and develop a translational research approach;
- Encourage training and handover and ensure recognition as a frontline training centre
- Improve visibility of the CHUV Hospice and the Biology and Medicine Faculty as much with the public and political authorities as within the scientific world.
Composition
CardioMet unites the CHUV units and the departments of the Biology and Medical Faculty as follows :
- Service or unit active exclusively in the cardiovascular and/or metabolic domains. The service or unit, as for the entirety of its collaborators, is part of the centre. This criteria covers :
 The Angelology Service
The Cardiology Service
The Surgery and Cardiovascular Service
The Paediatric Cardiology Unit
- Units active in the cardiovascular and/or metabolic domains integrated in a department, service, division, centre, CHUV Hospice institute or the FBM and which also have other areas of activity. The unit and its collaborators active in the cardiovascular and/or metabolic domains form part of the Centre. These units come from the following departments, services divisions, centres or institutes :

The University Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine
The Nephrology Service
The Neurology Service
The Division of the Pharmacology and Toxicology Clinics
The Division of the Pathophysiology Clinic
The Prevention Unit
The Service of the Radio diagnostics and Radiology interventions
The Division of Intensive Medical Care
The Department of Physiology
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology
The Centre of Integrated Genomicy
- The investigation platforms managed within this framework.
